Wurldtech and ENCS Enter into Partnership to Strengthen Cyber Security for Critical Infrastructures
Focus on testing, certification, training and knowledge sharing for smart grid cyber security
VANCOUVER, British Columbia and THE HAGUE, Netherlands, April 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wurldtech Security Technologies (Wurldtech) and the European Network for Cyber Security (ENCS) have signed a partnership agreement to improve collaboration and strengthen cyber security for critical infrastructures.
The partnership commits the two organisations to share knowledge and expertise related to cyber security for industrial control systems (ICS) and critical infrastructures in Europe to create new certification methodologies, develop testing capabilities for the smart grid, and collaborate in workshops and training.
Critical infrastructures are becoming steadily more interconnected and are thus increasingly vulnerable to threats from technical failures, hacking, natural disasters, and manmade mistakes. There is a growing need for new cyber security solutions and certification to protect these networks against such threats. Through international cooperation and collaboration, improvements in ICS security can significantly increase the robustness and resilience of our critical infrastructures.
ENCS selected Wurldtech for their in depth knowledge of ICS/SCADA systems and unique testing capabilities. Jouke Eikelboom, CEO of ENCS: "With fast developments in cyber incidents it becomes increasingly important to test and certify equipment on cyber security before it enters the network. Utilities ask us to provide practical approaches to assess their security level. The capabilities and knowledge of Wurldtech are an important contribution to respond to this need."
"Our international customers have been looking for an independent organization to provide testing and issue Achilles Communications Certifications," said Wurldtech CEO Neil McDonnell. "We are thrilled to be moving forward with a leading organization such as ENCS to meet those customer needs."
