LOS ANGELES, March 9, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Wunder Mobility, the fastest-growing mobility technology company in Europe, today announced the official launch of its carpooling product in North America. A core offering in Europe, Asia, and South America, Wunder Carpool enables companies to facilitate carpooling among their employees, helping to reduce carbon emissions, save on parking space and make commutes easier. The application has been used internationally by Lufthansa, Unibail Rodamco Westfield, and FDM (Federation of Danish Motorists).
"The United States has real mobility challenges. As housing in urban areas becomes increasingly expensive, workers are pushed into further and further commutes," said Sam Baker, president of Wunder Mobility. "As a native Californian, I have seen the negative impact that can have on the health and wellness of employees and the environment first-hand. Carpooling is a game-changing product that has been proven to make commutes more enjoyable and lessen the impact on the road."
The Wunder Carpool application enables employees to connect with each other and ride together, reducing the number of vehicles on the road and making parking easier. It incentivizes carpooling by giving priority parking to employees who use the app, helping companies to reduce facility costs. It also offers real-time analytics to both employees and companies, helping them to understand the environmental impact of carpooling.
Wunder initially unveiled its carpool product for customers in Europe in 2016, and it has been widely adopted since. Corporations and business parks use the Wunder carpooling platform to increase the capacity of their limited parking space and improve the commuting experience for employees. This is possible by an innovative parking integration that allocates preferential parking spaces to carpooling drivers. The integration is compatible with several leading smart parking systems.
The technology can also be implemented as an open system for governments or larger public-facing organizations like FDM, the 200,000-member motorist organization in Denmark. The organization uses Wunder Carpool technology to provide carpooling to Denmark in collaboration with local government and businesses.
"We wanted to address two problems: congestion on one side and CO2 emissions on the other. These issues affect everyone, including our members, who make up 15 percent of the Danish population," said Clement Guasco, digital business developer of Federation of Danish Motorists. "We started our Wunder Carpool pilot in an industrial area that has about 10 companies and 6,000 employees. It went so well that we've now opened the system to all of Denmark and are inviting large Danish companies to participate in the Wunder Carpool program. Every company should hear that there is a possibility today to start carpooling tomorrow."
