PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- WSI has been awarded the contract to provide security services to the Department of Energy's Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), located along the Gulf Coast with sites in Louisiana and Texas.
The SPR is the largest stockpile of government-owned crude oil in the world and provides the United States strategic and economic protection against disruptions in oil supply. It was established by the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975 following the 1973 Arab oil embargo.
DynMcDermott Petroleum Operations Company (DM) awarded the three-year contract which has two option years and a total value of $84,200,000. WSI previously served as the security contractor at the SPR from 1986-1996.
