COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine, July 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Christmas in July theme leaps into the marketing consciousness of multitudes, national nonprofit Wreaths Across America continues to develop and celebrate partnerships with other nonprofit organizations through its new Giving in July program.
"It's during the holidays that our deployed servicemen and women miss home the most and there are empty seats at family gatherings," explains Wreaths Across America's executive director, Karen Worcester. "And generally, it is during the holidays when conflict and strife are replaced by charity and goodwill toward one another. But we want our country's veterans to be thought of and honored each and every day of the year, not just in December."
By sponsoring a wreath(s) through the designated pages for each partnering group you will not only sponsor a veterans' wreath to be placed in honor of an American hero in December, but $5 of each $15 contribution goes directly to the featured organization to help support their mission.
These are the national nonprofit organizations joining the Wreaths Across America family as we work daily to remember our fallen, honor those who currently serve and their families and teach younger generations the value of freedom:
The Gary Sinise Foundation: The Mission of the Gary Sinise Foundation is to serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. We do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities. The Foundation was established under the philanthropic direction of a forty-year advocate for our nation's defenders, actor Gary Sinise. Its outreach supports those who sacrifice to defend our country: active duty, veterans, first responders, and their loved ones.
America's Mighty Warriors: Debbie Lee founded America's Mighty Warriors after her son Marc was the first Navy SEAL to be killed in Iraq on August 2, 2006. In Marc's Last Letter Home, he asked for friends and family to "pass on the love and kindness and precious gift of human life." Since then, America's Mighty Warriors has been fighting to support our troops, the fallen and their families. They provide programs that improve quality of life, resiliency and recovery and work with like-minded organizations to do the same.
Travis Manion Foundation:TMF is uniting communities to strengthen America's national character. In an increasingly divisive cultural climate, we unite and strengthen communities. Our nation needs role models that inspire and we should look no further than the civic assets already living in our communities. Veterans and families of the fallen are leading the charge, pushing us to be better versions of ourselves and improving our collective character.
The Maine Troop Greeters and Museum: The mission of the Maine Troop Greeters is to express the Nation's (and our) gratitude and appreciation to the Troops, for those going overseas for a safe return and for those returning for a joyful homecoming and to make their brief stay in Bangor as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Additionally we will honor the trust placed in us by these troops by preserving and perpetuating the donations entrusted to our care, through display, education and sharing of these collections.
Honor and Remember (America's Run for the Fallen's parent organization): The mission of Honor and Remember is to perpetually recognize the sacrifice of America's military fallen heroes and their families. The organization pays tribute to all military lives lost, not only while serving on active duty but also as a result of serving. Military deaths in all wars or conflicts and all branches of service from our nation's inception are recognized. The essential goal is to establish the Honor and Remember Flag as the nation's official symbol of remembrance, recognizing every fallen service member and their families; making this one of the most recognizable symbols in America and visible on every flagpole.
These partners are in addition to the thousands of Fundraising Groups across the country already working hard to support local participating cemeteries. You can search for those groups here. Through the unique fundraising program, Wreaths Across America has helped generate more than 8 million dollars in revenue over the last decade for other nonprofit organizations whose missions support military veterans and their families.
This year, National Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018. It is a free event, open to all. For more information or to find a participating cemetery near you, please visit www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.
