Wounded Warriors Family Support High Five Tour 2012 Heads West
OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With the first half of the High Five Tour 2012 down, the Wounded Warriors Family Support 2012 Shelby Mustang GT-500 "Super Snake" will head west.
Wounded Warriors Family Support has announced dates of the High Five Tour 2012-West, which will include 25 stops in 17 states as the organization travels the country thanking Americans for their support of military families. The tour will raise funds and awareness for Wounded Warriors Family Support's mission to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations.
Wounded Warriors Family Support began the High Five Tour 2012-East in June, making stops in nearly 50 cities in the eastern U.S.
The eastern half of the tour raised $100,000 for Operation Tyler, which is helping to build a "smart home" for Lance Cpl. Tyler Huffman and his family. Huffman, a Marine, was critically injured while serving in Afghanistan in 2010.
Another soldier will benefit from the second leg of the tour. All funds from the High Five Tour 2012-West will go toward building a "smart home" for a deserving, critically wounded Marine and his family residing in Texas. His injuries left him wheelchair-bound. Wounded Warriors Family Support has pledged no less than $100,000 to the worthy endeavor in concert with the Gary Sinise Foundation.
"The High Five Tour 2012-East was a success, and we want to thank everyone along the way who has shown their support for our country's military families," said Col. John Folsom, Wounded Warriors Family Support founder. "But our job is not finished. We look forward to bringing the car to the western U.S., as well as supporting another soldier and family in need."
Wounded Warriors Family Support invites Americans of all walks of life to show their support for military families by visiting stops on the High Five Tour 2012 and signing the car with a message of support to the country's veterans. Supporters can also contribute $5 to Wounded Warriors Family Support by texting "highfive" to 20222.
