Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride Returns to Washington, D.C. and Maryland
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- From April 28 to May 2, over 50 wounded warriors and their caregivers from across the country will be biking from Washington, D.C. to Baltimore and Annapolis. This is the fourth year that the ride has visited the capital and mid-Atlantic region.
"Riders are always so excited by the welcome they receive in the nation's capital and Maryland," said Chris Roberts, Soldier Ride Director. "It is also particularly meaningful for them to ride past areas of historical significance to the country while drawing attention to the needs of the greatest patriots of this generation."
Soldier Ride is a program of Wounded Warrior Project that provides key rehabilitation opportunities for wounded warriors and raises public awareness for those who have been severely injured during the current conflicts. All participants with a disability or missing a limb or limbs are provided the adaptive equipment customized to their individual needs.
On April 28, the ride will begin in Washington, D.C. where it will visit the White House, Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery. With the support of the Washington, D.C. sponsor HP, the world's largest technology company, the ride will conclude at the press triangle of the U.S. Capitol Building.
The following day, riders will visit Baltimore's Inner Harbor and Camden Yards, where performance athletic wear outfitter Under Armour will host an event and pep rally at their corporate headquarters and provide the riders complimentary tickets to the day's Orioles game. The next day, the riders will travel from Andrews Air Force Base to historic Annapolis. Finally, on May 1, the riders will travel through downtown Annapolis and the campus of the United States Naval Academy.
