Wounded Warrior Project to Participate in JetBlue Airways' All You Can Jet™ Promotion - Partnership with Wounded Warrior Project Provides Unique Opportunity for One Wounded Warrior
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Launching today, JetBlue's 30 day All You Can Jet pass travel promotion will offer a very special month of travel to one American hero. Over the course of September, wounded warrior Robert Luscomb and his wife will use the passes to attend various events across the country, honoring his service and empowering his recovery.
Luscomb, who sustained both visible and invisible injuries while serving our nation, will attend the promotion's 'Ready.Jet.Go!' kick-off event at JetBlue's Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. He and his wife will then travel to Boston to be honored at Fenway Park by the Boston Red Sox. The Luscombs will then jet to Windham, NY for Project Odyssey, a WWP program for those veterans suffering with combat stress. They will continue on to other sporting events nationwide, finally ending with a visit to the Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas.
Over 39,000 of our nation's armed forces have been physically wounded during the current military conflicts. Hundreds of thousands more are estimated to be recovering from invisible wounds of war, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depression, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). WWP assists wounded warriors and their families through a holistic approach to their recovery, providing programs and services to aid their physical rehabilitation and improve their mental health and well-being. Whether through caregiver retreats, combat stress programs, career and education services or adaptive sporting opportunities, WWP empowers warriors with the tools essential to not just survive their injuries but to thrive and achieve personal and professional success.
Mr. Luscomb is a below the knee amputee and like so many others also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Warriors suffering from PTSD or combat stress can often become withdrawn. Wounded Warrior Project is working with Robert and his wife so that the All You Can Jet pass can serve as a significant part of his recovery and rehabilitation. Additionally, the hope is that this warrior can gain confidence and encourage others to do the same.
"By providing this exceptional rehabilitative opportunity to one warrior, JetBlue is profoundly assisting Wounded Warrior Project's mission to honor and empower wounded warriors," said Steve Nardizzi, Executive Director of WWP. "We hope that Robert's travel's this September will not only help him to heal but also encourage other warriors living with PTSD and combat stress to know that there is life after injury."
