Wounded Warrior Project To Host Project Odyssey for Female Warriors in Germany
Injured Female Service Members Will Enjoy a Day of Self-Care Through Team Building
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 29, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Combat Stress Recovery Program (CSRP) Germany team is hosting a Project Odyssey® for wounded female veterans in Sainkt Wendel, Germany from Thursday, May 28 to Saturday, May 30. Project Odyssey positively impacts injured servicemen and women by helping them overcome combat stress through outdoor, rehabilitative retreats that encourage a connection with nature, their peers, Project Odyssey staff, and trained counselors.
Project Odyssey is offered to wounded service members as part of the WWP Alumni Program, which facilitates events that give participants and those closest to them the opportunity to engage by networking and healing with other injured service members and families. Bonding through Project Odyssey events helps injured veterans, and their caregivers and families to maintain healthy, meaningful relationships while pursuing life and civilian reintegration goals free from the barriers or stigmas associated with mental health issues.
The WWP Germany CSRP team has planned this Project Odyssey for wounded female veterans as a team building event that will feature an array of activities. High ropes courses and self-care through equine exposure will build camaraderie among participants. Injured service women will also experience psychoeducational work, geocaching, personalized golf lessons and will complete the week with a day at the spa to include a variety of relaxing treatments.
