Wounded Warrior Project participates in The Big Give S.A.
SAN ANTONIO, May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) will be one of many local, non-profit organizations to benefit from The Big Give S.A., a community-wide, online day of giving on Tuesday in San Antonio, Texas. The 24-hour day of giving is hosted by participating community foundations to help increase public awareness and support for the impact that non-profit organizations make in their communities. The Big Give S.A. is part of the national day of giving called Give Local America.
The event will raise awareness of the pressing needs affecting San Antonio, and encourages the community to give in their own backyard to organizations impacting the areas in which we live and work. The Big Give S.A. will help bring attention to the 8,272 injured service members in Texas, and the programs we offer them and their families for engagement, mind, body, and economic empowerment.
"The Wounded Warrior Project San Antonio office works tirelessly to impact the lives of local warriors and their families, not just today, but for their lifetime," said Catherine McDonough, Grants Specialist. "We are excited to participate in Big Give S.A. and encourage individuals and companies to use this opportunity to step up for a local cause."
To help raise funds and awareness for The Big Give S.A., WWP will be hosting an open-house-style event at the San Antonio office from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Guests will be treated to lunch, have easy access to online donation opportunities, and will also receive a tour of TRACK, the first education center in the nation specifically for wounded warriors. TRACK is a 12-month WWP program that gives injured service members a jump-start on meeting educational goals while also supporting goals around personal health and wellness, mental health and career development.
Guests will also have the opportunity to hear from Deven Schei. Deven's brother suffered a catastrophic injury in Iraq. Deven joined the Army to honor a promise he made to finish what his brother started. Recovering from injuries of his own caused by four 80mm rockets, he has found inspiration through recovery.
