"This partnership creates real opportunities for innovation in diabetes, a disease that is growing rapidly and needs new and creative solutions," said John Brooks, CEO, Joslin Diabetes Center. "All of us at Joslin are very excited that the union of the two companies, and the strength, scope, and reach of the Diabetes HUB, will be a unique force for better health and wellness aligned with our other efforts such as the Diabetes Innovation event and the Diabetes Innovation Alliance, which encourages year round collaboration and action."
Earlier this year, WorldOne introduced its HUB offering on Sermo with the launch of the MS HUB. Accessible to all 200,000 Sermo members, HUBs provide a virtual learning and collaboration space for practicing physicians to tackle some of health care's biggest challenges. HUBs for additional therapeutic areas will be added in coming months.
"The HUB is a novel way to improve health care by furthering clinical knowledge and encouraging collaboration through an interactive forum designed specifically for physicians," said Peter Kirk, Founder and CEO of WorldOne. "The Diabetes HUB will be enhanced by Joslin's thought leadership and expertise, ensuring we are the ultimate physician resource on diabetes care."
In addition to providing an interactive forum for physicians to discuss and debate posts by Sermo opinion leaders, the Diabetes HUB features Joslin's educational offerings, point of care tools and resources, as well as authoritative curated content from select sources. Joslin will also poll HUB participants on a variety of topics, aggregating physician insights on diabetes care and prevention. To maximize the educational opportunity, Joslin clinicians will help spark dialogue and reflect key findings back into the community as well as other key stakeholders in Diabetes care. Joslin's committed educational network of over 130,000 primary care providers will be invited to participate consistently and to join Sermo, which is free and exclusive to practicing MD's licensed in the U.S.
WorldOne and Joslin also released intelligence from their most recent joint survey, a follow up to their emerging diabetes trends survey of WorldOne primary care physicians and endocrinologists, as well as conference delegates, which was released last year at Diabetes Innovation 2012. A summary of findings and other conference highlights can be found at www.sermo.com/di2013.
