World Press Freedom Index 2015 press conference
Reporters Without Borders will publish the World Press Freedom Index 2015 on February 12, 2015 at 00:01am EST.
WASHINGTON, Feb. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The press conference to present the World Press Freedom Index 2015 under embargo will take place on February 11, 2015 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm EST at the National Press Club, First Amendment Lounge (529 14th Street, NW - 13th Floor - Washington, DC 20045).
The annual report (under embargo until 0:01am EST) will be introduced by Delphine Halgand, Reporters Without Borders USA Director highlighting the significant trends, rises and falls of countries in the 2015 World Press Freedom Index.
The panelists of the discussion will be:
- Ali Rezaian, brother of Jason Rezaian, the Washington Post Tehran Bureau Chief who has been detained in Iran since July 22, 2014. Jason Rezaian has now been held longer than any previous Western journalist in Iran. No charges have been brought against him. He was denied the most basic rights, including the services of a lawyer. Throughout this time he has been held in solitary confinement and suffered through many untreated health issues.
- Raza Rumi, Pakistani columnist, analyst and journalist. On March 28 2014, two unidentified gunmen opened fire on Raza Rumi, a highly vocal critic of the Taliban and religious extremists groups, leaving his driver dead and guard injured. is now consulting editor of The Friday Times and senior fellow at the United States Institute of Peace.
