SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- World Maker Faire New York completed its 8th annual flagship Faire on September 23 & 24, 2017, at the New York Hall of Science on a warm and sunny weekend perfect for getting out to celebrate the Maker Movement. Over 90,000 making enthusiasts from locations along the East Coast, and across the country, came out to get hands-on with and inspired by the amazing projects showcased at the Faire by over 750 makers.
"Eight years in with our partner, the New York Hall of Science, bringing World Maker Faire to the East Coast, and the enthusiasm and engagement from the maker community is still strong," said Dale Dougherty, co-founder of Maker Faire and CEO of Maker Media. "It's a testament to the maker culture and people wanting to connect around something that satisfies their deeper curiosity for exploring and problem-solving, and putting their talents and ingenuity to work. They know they will find these connections and opportunities at Maker Faire."

The Forum is a collaborative event organized by Maker Media and the New York Hall of Science for local education professionals. A packed auditorium of educators engaged in an in-depth day of learning about computational making, rethinking professional development for maker education, and how making is not just about creating a makerspace but creating a maker culture. Maker Share, a project by Make: and Intel, Showcased New Platform as Goldsmith Sponsor
For its inaugural activation at World Maker Faire New York, Maker Share joined the ranks of Goldsmith Sponsors at this year's Faire. In 2016, Make: and Intel came together with a shared vision: creating a global Maker community that would facilitate open innovation—Maker Share is the result of that partnership. In the same way that makers gather and share at every Maker Faire, Maker Share is a digital community where makers can share their stories and connect with each other to collaborate and learn new skills. They can also participate in opportunities such as the Z-Wave Smart Home Maker Challenge, launched at World Maker Faire. At the Faire, Maker Share introduced the site and the makers newly featured on the platform to both exhibiting makers and attendees to help everyone stay connected to the worldwide maker community 365 days a year.
