World Kitchen Celebrates Pyrex® Brand's 100th By Unveiling World's Largest Measuring Cup At International Home + Housewares Show
ROSEMONT, Ill., March 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pyrex® brand, a leader in the glass bakeware industry, is raising its glass to celebrate 100 years in 2015. To honor the milestone, and officially kick-off a 100-year anniversary celebration, World Kitchen debuted the Guinness World Record-certified World's Largest Measuring Cup at the International Home + Housewares Show on Sunday, March 8, in Chicago, Ill. The cup was unveiled during an anniversary celebration hosted by the Pyrex brand, which featured a toast by Kris Malkoski, North American president of World Kitchen, and Guinness World Record adjudicator Philip Robertson who made the proclamation on site. As part of the celebration, a line of limited edition Pyrex products will hit store shelves nationwide this month.

The World's Largest Measuring Cup was created as part of the 100th anniversary celebration for the Pyrex brand and will make unexpected appearances throughout the country in 2015. The limited edition centennial product line includes colorful measuring cups, storage bowls and pie plates that feature fresh takes on vintage designs much loved from the 50's and 60's.

The cup is approximately 3,000 cups large and more than 1,500 times the size of the iconic 2-cup measuring cup, owned by cooking enthusiasts worldwide. To stay true to the Pyrex brand heritage, the cup was made in the U.S.A. The cup features the familiar red markings and is made out of acrylic.
From clear and classic casserole dishes and measuring cups to colorfully printed retro storage bowls, the immense Pyrex product line has found its way into the kitchens of more than 80 million Americans. Initially created by Corning Glass scientists charged with developing lantern glass for railroads, the Pyrex brand was born when Bessie Littleton, wife of a Corning scientist, asked her husband to bring home some heat-resistant glass to use in place of her broken casserole dish. He gave her the sawed-off bottoms of some battery jars, a delicious cake was baked and the rest as they say, is history. Pyrex glassware has called the small town of Charleroi, PA, home for more than 50 years, and has employed generations of families throughout its history.
The 100th celebration will continue online with two exciting promotions. The Pyrex 100 Days of Giveaways will begin March 22. Fans can enter on Pyrex100.com for a chance to win daily and monthly prizes including Pyrex products from the limited edition anniversary collection. Then, beginning March 29, fans are asked to raise their glass and use the hashtag #RaiseYourGlassSweeps on Twitter and Instagram with photos of themselves raising a Pyrex glass in celebration for a chance to win a grand prize trip for two anywhere within the continental United States and other great prizes.
