World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC) to Highlight the Impact of New Technologies and Energy Policy at Nation's Largest Energy Efficiency Conference in Washington, DC
ATLANTA, Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Recent years have witnessed the emergence of climate change and energy policy as major topics of debate in the political arena. A 2014 survey of energy professionals conducted by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) shows that while experts are divided on President Obama's "All of the Above" energy strategy with 48% of them responding that they are unsure about the plan, the President's plan to boost domestic energy production, in contrast, is very popular as 67% of respondents were in favor of increased domestic drilling for oil, and 65% were in favor of hydraulic fracking. In addition, 63% of respondents were in favor of stricter carbon emissions standards. These varied responses among experts working in the field demonstrate the complexity of the climate change and energy policy issues being discussed on a national level. AEE seeks to further explore these complexities at its World Energy Engineering Congress (WEEC).
The 37th WEEC will feature over 250 speakers, including The Architect of the Capitol, Stephen T. Ayers; Ambassador Carlos Pascual, Fellow & Senior Research Scholar, Center on Global Energy Policy, Columbia University, Mark McGuire, Executive Vice President & General Counsel for Eaton, along with closing Keynote Luncheon speaker Richard Kauffman, Chairman, Energy & Finance for New York State and Chairman, New York State Energy Research & Development Authority. "With former President Bill Clinton as the keynote speaker, the technologies on display in the expo and the powerhouse conference program, this will be the premier energy efficiency and climate change event of the year," said Al Thumann, Executive Director, of AEE.
The WEEC is hosted by power management company Eaton, presented by AEE and features association leader, the Alliance to Save Energy, along with government energy leader the Architect of the Capitol as well as sponsors Lutron, ENERGY STAR, Rexroth Bosch Group, and AMEC among others.
The WEEC will feature a large, 15-track conference agenda, a full line-up of CEU and PDH qualifying seminars on a variety of current topics, and a comprehensive 100,000 ft2 exhibition of the world's most promising new technologies.
The WEEC is the nation's largest energy efficiency conference and exposition and addresses new advances in lighting, HVAC, and energy management technologies. Subjects include: energy policy, high performance buildings, and energy management "best practices" for the federal, commercial, institutional, and industrial marketplace.
