Durham Young Professionals Group Names Clay Harris as a Bull's Eye Award Recipient
DURHAM, N.C., Dec. 20, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- WorkSmart, a leading provider of Information Technology services in North Carolina, announced today that their Chief Operating Officer, Clay Harris, has been named the Young Professional of the Year by the Durham Young Professionals' (DYP) Bull's Eye Awards. This was the first-ever presentation of the awards.
DYP, a program of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, created the Bull's Eye Awards to recognize companies for their commitment to the development of young professionals, as well as honor a young professional for significant achievement in the business community. To qualify for the award, individuals must be under the age of 40 and have achieved notable success in their business endeavors, while demonstrating tremendous community involvement.
As the Chief Operating Officer for WorkSmart, Harris manages all technical and service aspects of daily operations, as well as strategic initiatives related to delivering and maintaining high service levels and operational efficiencies. He has also been integral in ensuring the success of product and service development and expansion into other regions of the U.S. Outside of his career responsibilities, Clay serves as the Board Chair for The Achievement Academy of Durham (AAD). AAD is a Durham-based nonprofit organization that teaches and supports young adults who have dropped out of school in order to reconnect them to the opportunities an education provides. He previously served as AAD's Fundraising Chair.
"Clay's leadership is focused and creative," said Sandy Ogburn, Administrative Director of The Achievement Academy of Durham. "His humility and his great sense of humor keep him from taking himself too seriously and contribute to his amazing ability to forge consensus with diverse groups of people."
"It's been a pleasure working with Clay for the past 10 years," added Ron Unger, WorkSmart's CEO. "Clay's leadership and contributions have been essential for the continued growth of WorkSmart and to its stellar reputation in the community."
Recipients of the awards were honored at the Durham Young Professionals' Holiday Mingle at Rigsbee Hall in downtown Durham on December 15, 2010.
