WASHINGTON, Nov. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, former Secretary of Health and Human Services and creator of the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI), will release what is expected to serve as a new roadmap for the health IT industry at a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference on December 5.

Release of the 2013 WEDI Report comes on the 20^th anniversary of the group's original report. WEDI is the leading authority on the use of health information technology to improve health care information exchange in order to enhance quality of care, improve efficiency and reduce costs of the health care system.

WEDI's new report focuses on areas including telemedicine, patient engagement, new payment models and integration of clinical and administrative data systems.
