Workforce Alliance to Conduct Workshops for Attendees at BioFlorida Conference
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Workforce Alliance is participating in BioFlorida's 13th Annual Conference by conducting two pre-conference workshops on Sunday, October 24th. There is no charge to attend the workshops, but registration is required and can be made through the BioFlorida website, www.bioflorida.com.
Workforce Alliance is partnering with Scripps Florida to present a Career Seeker Workshop for PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. The 2-hour session will start at 2:00 p.m. and will address the following:
- high impact, hybrid curricula vitae;
- the marketing tool that explains "why should I hire you?";
- interview strategies to help give you the edge;
- analyzing job postings and developing behavioral based interview questions, and
- closing the interview and asking the right questions.
The presentation will be followed by a panel of employers, and will be moderated by Doug Sáenz, Workforce Alliance, Director, Industry & Economic Relations. The panelists will include: Dr. Harry Orf, Vice President for Scientific Operations, Scripps Florida; Dr. Claudia Hillinger, Vice President for Institute Development, Max Planck Florida Institute; Dr. Richard Houghton, President & CEO, Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies; and Stephen Hitchcock, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Drug Discovery, Envoy Therapeutics. The workshop will run from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
A second workshop, designed for employers attending the Conference, will explore key human resource issues commonly encountered by companies of all sizes. The 90-minute session will start at 2:30 p.m. and will include:
- executive and staff compensation strategies;
- emerging trends and risks, and ways to mitigate them;
- attracting top talent, and
- strategies for retaining top talent in a time of contracting budgets.
The moderator for the employers' workshop will be Paul Hederman, SPHR, Vice President of Support Services, Workforce Alliance. The panelists will be Laurie Glasgall, Owner/Director, Integrated Compensation Solutions; Ellen Finnerty, SPHR, former Senior Vice President, First Capital; Christine Hanley, Principal, Christine D. Hanley & Associates; and Dr. Tonya Miller, Halyn & Associates.
