Workers Comp Talks in NC Called "Encouraging"
RALEIGH, N.C., May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Advocates for injured workers describe legislative talks regarding North Carolina's workers' compensation system as "encouraging."
After hundreds of injured workers rallied at the General Assembly last week, advocates for workers met with all interested parties on Tuesday to discuss the proposed legislation. HB 709, sponsored by Rep. Dale Folwell, is now under consideration by the House Select Committee on Tort Reform.
"We're encouraged by the tone of the talks and the leadership of Rep. Folwell," said Dick Taylor of the NC Advocates for Justice. "North Carolina's workers' comp system provides fair benefits to injured workers at low costs to employers. At this point, everyone at the table seems interested in preserving a fair and balanced system."
