Workato receives a core patent enabling the first Github-like community for integrations
The patent covers the ability for users to clone, share, and run integrations across apps, databases, and APIs
CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Workato, a leading intelligent integration and automation platform, today announced that it was awarded a new patent, US 9811394B1. The patent covers Workato's proprietary recipe cloning capability, which allows users to find, edit, and clone previously created integration recipes. This patented technology is fundamental to enabling a Github-like community for integrations and is powering the fastest growing community of over 225,000 integration recipes.
With the growth of SaaS and the mass use of these best-of-breed apps by lines of businesses, integration and workflow automations have become critical for a digital business to succeed. As a result, the number of integrations and the combinations of apps, databases, APIs, and devices that must interact with one another has exploded, ultimately causing an unmanageable number of integration requests for IT.
Various companies have tried to address this problem through approaches like templates or solution libraries - but these approaches only provide a starting point, not real-world use cases. Another pain point with templates or solution libraries is customizations. Platform apps, like Salesforce, JIRA, and ServiceNow are customized by every user and templates cannot address these customizations and users can't just take these templates and run them in their own environment. Last, a community cannot be built around templates or solution libraries, which is critical to addressing the huge number of - and ever-growing - integration and automation use cases. Without an integration community, several people must spend huge amounts of time creating integrations to solve the same problem, instead of being able to use other people's real-world integration use cases as a starting point.
This patented technology provides a fundamentally different approach to the way integrations and workflow automations are created:
- Real-world, working integrations that can be cloned and customized by others
- Easily adapts to different environments where the apps have been customized with custom fields and processes
- A Github-like community where users can share their integrations and use the integrations of others
"This patented technology solves the stubborn 'last mile' problem. Now you can reuse integrations across environments with deep and different customizations of the same apps - a problem that was never successfully addressed," said Gautham Viswanathan, Co-founder & VP Products at Workato.
Why it matters: Faster time to market
77% of Workato customers get their 1st integration done within a week using this technology
Since integrations don't have to be built from scratch and real-world integrations can be cloned and reused, customers are deploying integrations faster than ever before.
A growing community with over 225,000 integrations
Workato has the largest and the fastest growing community of integrations built by IT, integration specialists, and business users. 74% of integrations across apps, databases, and APIs are cloned from existing recipes. Browse Workato's community recipes.
