Woods' US$590 Million Fortune Surpasses Total Net Worth Of World's Top Ten Golfers
US Golfers Dominate The List with Combined Net Worth of US$875 Million
LONDON, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tiger Woods will tee off at this week's British Open as the world's wealthiest golfer, whose net worth of US$590 million outshines the combined fortunes of all others in the top ten ranking.
Woods is also the world's wealthiest athlete who is still active in his sport, more affluent than other top-earning athletes such as Swiss tennis player Roger Federer (US$180 million) and American NBA basketball player Kobe Bryant (US$220 million), according to data by Wealth-X, the ultra high net worth (UHNW) intelligence provider.
The Open Championship, the third men's major of 2013, gets underway on Thursday at Muirfield Golf Club in Gullane, Scotland and will mark Woods' first return to the green since the US Open last month.
Wealth-X has compiled the world's top 10 wealthiest golfers list, based on prize money, endorsement deals, corporate outings, licensing fees and so on. Below are the first five UHNW golfers:

The fortunes of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are worth twice that of the rest of the golfers combined. The United States is the only country with more than one person on the list, and that brings the combined net worth of its golfers to US$875 million.
Since topping the World Golf Rankings in March, Woods has doubled his prize money and his off-course income has risen due to generous sponsor bonuses with Nike and Rolex. He has also collected more than US$10 million in appearances fees during trips to China, Turkey, Abu Dhabi and Malaysia.
