Woodforest National Bank gives $1 million gift to Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital; hospital names third floor common area - Woodforest Bank Sky Plaza.
THE WOODLANDS, Texas, July 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital's leadership team and Woodforest National Bank Board members celebrated the naming of Woodforest Bank Sky Plaza during a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 19, 2017.
In late 2016, Woodforest National Bank committed $1 million to the new hospital to name its third floor atrium space and support the hospital's Excellence Fund. The Excellence Fund advances the hospital's highest priorities and accelerates innovative research and physician recruitment in key clinical areas.

"Our gift to the Excellence Fund provides the forum for our organizations to work together with a focus on offering the best programs, delivering Leading Medicine right here in The Woodlands, and making a positive impact on our friends and neighbors."
The $1 million gift is the largest philanthropic commitment to a Houston Methodist hospital, outside the Texas Medical Center.

Woodforest Bank Sky Plaza is among the most prominent spaces in the new hospital. It provides a space for patients, visitors, physicians and staff to visit and relax, and it will be the site for future hospital and community gatherings.
