Woodbury University Elevates Two Faculty Members in Academic Affairs
Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter Named Interim Dean of the School of Architecture; Raida Gatten to Serve as Acting Associate VP of Academic Affairs for One-Year Term
LOS ANGELES, June 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Woodbury University has elevated two faculty members to new roles in Academic Affairs, the university announced today.
Architecture Professor Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter, AIA, has been named Interim Dean of the School of Architecture, following the recent passing of Norman Millar, the former dean of the School. According to Randy Stauffer, Woodbury's Interim Senior VP, Academic Affairs, Wahlroos-Ritter's experience in the School of Architecture, background and involvement in the profession, and engagement with a host of major university initiatives made her "a logical choice" for the interim position. She joined the Woodbury faculty in 2005 and has served in multiple administrative assignments as part of her full-time faculty position.
Woodbury also named Associate Professor Raida Gatten Acting Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs for a one-year term. Gatten has been an active and important part of the full-time faculty as the Public Services Librarian and School of Business Library Liaison, Stauffer said. She recently served as the acting University Librarian, addressing a number of the administrative issues central to her new role.
"These two positions are key to Woodbury's academic success, and I am confident that both Ms. Wahlroos-Ritter and Ms. Gatten will do an outstanding job," Stauffer said. "Both have earned the respect of colleagues and students alike, and they epitomize the excellence to which the university is committed."
Wahlroos-Ritter, who previously taught at Yale University, Cornell University and SCI-Arc, has served as Assistant Chair, Associate Director, Chair of Undergraduate Architecture, Graduate Architecture Chair, and most recently, Associate Dean. An influential figure in the field, she contributed to the book Architecture: A Woman's Profession, a landmark compilation that showcases the increasingly important contributions of women architects. Wahlroos-Ritter will continue to serve as Director of WUHO, the Woodbury University Hollywood Outpost, a venue for experimental installations, public lectures and events, and fieldwork workshops. She currently serves on the Los Angeles AIA Board of Directors.
Gatten received her M.L.I.S from Kent State University in 2000 and has extensive experience managing access services in academic libraries. She provides leadership for all public services within the Woodbury University Library, including reference, circulation, course reserves, interlibrary loan, audio visual services, and stacks management.
Gatten teaches credit-bearing information literacy courses as well as subject-specific bibliographic instruction classes for students and faculty. She serves as the subject and collection development liaison to Business & Management, Accounting, International Business, Marketing, Fashion Marketing, Fine Arts and Leadership programs. Prior to coming to Woodbury University, Gatten worked at Kent State University Libraries and the Los Angeles Public Library.
