The new Accelerated Women's Health Program, which is being rolled out this month, targets the functional impairments and pain associated with the issues of:
- Urinary incontinence
- Pregnancy and Post-Partum Conditions
- Rectus Diastasis
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Post-surgical conditions

These common conditions plague one in three women daily. In a recent study, a reported 25 to 45 percent of women experienced urinary incontinence at least once in the past year. And, 27 percent of women ages 40 to 59 and 37 percent of women ages 60 to 79 suffer from a pelvic floor disorder. The specially-trained, all-female staff provides one-on-one care and individualized treatment therapies to improve function, alleviate pain and allow female patients to regain their independent function.
"We begin by conducting an initial evaluation and functional testing to assess strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination and pain patterns," explains Christina M. Christie, PT, CCE, FAFS, FMR, head of the Accelerated Women's Health Program. "Based on the results, and in conjunction with your physician, we design an individualized program to address the core of the problem to decrease symptoms and assist a woman in achieving her goals to return to normal daily activities, as well as returning to a comprehensive exercise program."
The Women's Health Program utilizes treatment options that include: internal soft tissue mobilization, muscle re-education, postural alignment, biofeedback/surface electromyography, electrical stimulation, bladder retraining, diet education, muscle energy technique, myofascial release, therapeutic exercises, including the Pelvicore program, and joint mobilization.
