Women Rule the Average "Family Roost" When it Comes to Holiday Planning
LONDON, August 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
The majority of women take control over each and every aspect of holiday planning, according to a recent survey by Cox & Kings, the luxury holidays specialist, who asked 1,000 UK households who does each job on the run up to the all-anticipated British summer holiday.
With more than 50% of women deciding the holiday destination, booking the holiday and organising the travel insurance, it is clear that ladies pull rank when it comes to the planning and preparation of their family's time off.
However, ladies really come into their own when it comes to packing those all-important bags, with a whopping 80% doing the hard graft. Men seem to get worse and worse at this crucial task as they get older; the tiny 10% of 18-24 year olds who actually fold their own pants drops to a shocking 4% of men over the age of 55.
But, before women judge too harshly, men do get more involved in the financial aspect of the holiday planning. With an equal 50/50 split of men and women organising the foreign currency and 63% of men over 55 booking the destination, the ladies shouldn't write them off just yet.
Cox & Kings offers a range of luxury tours and private tailor-made travel to worldwide destinations.
About Cox & Kings
Cox & Kings is the world's longest established travel company. Its history stretches back more than 250 years to 1758 when Richard Cox was appointed regimental agent to the Footguards (later the Grenadier Guards). The company's fortunes grew hand in hand with the British empire and by the early 20th century the company was acting as agent and banker throughout the armed forces and as a shipping agent. In 1922, Cox & Co merged with the Henry S King bank, which had strong connections with India. The bank became part of Lloyds and the shipping agency grew separately, evolving into the modern travel company.
Today, built on the high quality service and attention to detail established by Richard Cox in the 18th century, the company continues to flourish as an independent tour operator, with operations in London, the US, Japan, Australia and throughout India. Cox & Kings organises escorted small-group tours and private tailor-made travel in the Indian Subcontinent, Latin America, the Middle East, the Far East, Africa, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, and the Caribbean.
