'Women of Teradata' Employee Organization Awards College Scholarships

SAN DIEGO, April 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- College scholarships sponsored by the Teradata (NYSE: TDC) employee group Women of Teradata have been awarded to three San Diego high school seniors.

For the second year, the Women of Teradata organization has funded the exclusive college scholarships for students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering or math. Scholarship applicants were graduating high school women in a community where Teradata has an office and selection criteria included academic achievement, community involvement and financial need.

"While women are the majority of college students today, there is still a gap when you consider the number of women with careers in science, technology, engineering and math. With the Women of Teradata scholarships, we're helping these young women realize their dream careers in these high-paying and professionally rewarding areas," Women of Teradata President Kathy Edmons said.

Winners of the 2012 Women of Teradata Scholarships are:

Nicole Effenberger, Escondido, CA. The daughter of Michael and Roberta Effenberger, she plans to major in mechanical engineering and physics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. Effenberger is the captain of the varsity soccer team, a member of the Valedictory Circle and the Varsity Academic League and vice president of the school's National Honor Society chapter at San Pasqual High School in Escondido. 

Rebekah Gross, Escondido, CA. The daughter of Maria Gross, she will study engineering and computer science at Tufts University in Medford, MA. She is a senior at San Pasqual High School in Escondido.

Jasmine Toor, Escondido, CA. The daughter of Baljut and Damunjit Toor, she plans to major in neuroscience at Columbia University in New York. Toor attends San Pasqual High School in Escondido where she is treasurer for the Associated Student Body and for Key Club, president of the California Scholarship Federation, an AP Scholar and honor roll student, and member of the Student Board and the Fashion Board.
