Women in Localization Launches Much-Anticipated Industry Mentoring Program
Women's Organization Will Gather Close to 100 Women at NetApp Global Headquarters for May 14 Event
SAN FRANCISCO, April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Women in Localization (W.L.), the leading professional organization for women in the globalization industry, announced today the launch of "Mentoring Matters" program May 14.
"Research has shown that professional growth and satisfaction are more easily achieved with the guidance and support of an effective mentor," explains Silvia Avary-Silveira, Co-founder and Chair of Women in Localization. "The launch of our mentoring program, "Mentoring Matters", is designed to assist even the most experienced women in the industry to understand how mentoring works, what to expect from a mentor relationship, and how to hold themselves accountable toward their goals."
The "Mentoring Matters" program will include mentors and mentees of all experience levels from both the client- and agency-sides of the localization industry. W.L. Board Members Loy Searle and Teresa Marshall will introduce the overall structure of the program, whose foundation includes best mentoring practices leveraged from a variety of programs, including the well-known TGROW program, an acronym that stands for Topic, Goal, Reality, Option and Way Forward/Wrap-up. The goal of the program is to teach and demonstrate mentoring in a structured manner, which encourages each mentee to explore their own, personal wisdom in an environment of accountability that aligns with their professional and personal goals.
"Talent management is at the forefront of most CEOs' priorities," adds Silvia Avary-Silveira, Co-founder and Chair of Women in Localization. "Mentoring Matters" will help our members capitalize their career growth in a mindful, structured path for success."
The W.L. mentoring program will be launched Thursday, May 14 at NetApp's global HQ in Sunnyvale, Calif. The event will feature an introduction to the program, best practices for being mentored and for mentoring and a hands-on role play. Members are encouraged to bring business cards.
