Call for Applications
LOS ANGELES, May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Women in Entertainment (WIE), an organization dedicated to the advancement of women and girls working in and aspiring to work in the entertainment industry, announced today the second annual Women in Entertainment Workshop Series in conjunction with the LA Film Festival. The events will take place from June 20-22, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA. The workshops will be hosted in partnership with the LA Film Festival, featuring panels of accomplished leaders in film and television imparting advice and guidance for small groups of women who are working in and aspiring to work in the entertainment industry.
"We're so excited to continue the conversation we began with the first workshops last year, and provide this space to inspire and educate our network to succeed in the industry. Women's roles in entertainment are changing, growing, and evolving, and we want to celebrate our triumphs and work through solutions to challenges we face together," states Gretchen McCourt, Co-Founder of WIE. "The LA Film Festival has a strong history of supporting programs that seek out solutions, so we are thrilled to partner with them for our upcoming workshop series to help women advance their projects and be given the access to this type of mentorship."
The second annual event series is created to provide a collaborative and inspiring environment to spark an open dialogue focusing on four core areas of development and education for film and television: Production, Marketing, Distribution, and Fundraising. The intimate settings will gather members of the powerful Women in Entertainment network, and leading women and men in the entertainment industry.
"The collaboration with Women in Entertainment and their incredible organization is an opportunity for the LA Film Festival to provide women the resources, access and toolkits to move their projects forward," says Jennifer Cochis, Director of the LA Film Festival. "One of the goals we have is to support women in film and to help open the doors for artists to create their work. We couldn't be more thrilled about the collaboration."
Renee Rossi, Co-Founder of WIE, stated, "The caliber of leaders that we bring together for these workshops is unmatched; we're proud to provide our classes of workshop participants with access to advice from such accomplished and dedicated inspirations."
All those who are interested in participating can apply to attend at www.womeninentertainment.com/wie-workshop. The deadline for applications is June 3, 2017.
