TORONTO, Jan. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ - For the second year running female delegates at the World Economic Forum meeting at Davos are outperforming their male counterparts on social media.
WEFLIVE, a social media site run by KPMG International which aggregates Twitter activity from all WEF delegates, showed that while women delegates account for only 15 percent of the total delegate population they are responsible for 25 percent of all WEF delegate social media activity, second only to 'Media' at 29 percent share of voice.
Isabelle Allen, KPMG's Global Head of Clients and Markets and a female delegate at WEF, said: "Many of the women delegates I have met have spoken about their desire to open up Davos to the outside world, to start a broader conversation about the Davos agenda and they see social media as the best way to do this."
Ms. Allen continued: "It has been fascinating over the past few days to see which topics on the Davos agenda have caught the imagination of social media users around the world. Youth unemployment, sustainable economic growth, gender inequality, Japan, Iran and Syria have all trended strongly on WEFLIVE over the course of the week."
