PITTSBURGH, Jan. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Wombat Security Technologies (Wombat), the leading provider of cyber security awareness and training, is carrying its 2017 momentum into 2018, today announcing a rollout of expanded online resources for customers and prospects, as well as recent recognitions from leading information security organizations and updates to its popular CyberStrength® Knowledge Assessment tool.
Free Resources for Infosec Professionals
Wombat recently unveiled new additions and updates to its website and blog, including a more robust and centralized Security Awareness Resource Center, which provides a wide range of free tools and cybersecurity content. Organizations can utilize these resources — such as infographics, case studies, webinars, and research studies — to plan and execute their cybersecurity education programs and raise awareness among end users.
Highlighted in Wombat's new Resource Center is its recently released 2018 State of the Phish™ Report, an annual study that combines phishing-related data from multiple sources: tens of millions of simulated phishing emails sent via Wombat's Security Education Platform; more than 10,000 responses from quarterly surveys of infosec professionals; and responses from a survey of more than 3,000 technology users in the US, UK, and Germany. While not a scientific study, the report offers insights into the measures proactive organizations are taking to minimize the impact of phishing attacks, and better train their end users to identify and avoid social engineering scams.
Continued Industry Accolades
Following up on its recognition from Gartner and Deloitte in late 2017, Wombat has announced new awards and industry accolades:
- SC Media US named Wombat as a 2018 SC Award finalist in the Best IT Security-Related Training Program category.
- Government Security News named Wombat the Gold Winner for Best Compliance/Vulnerability Assessment in the 2017 Homeland Security Awards.
- Wombat has been nominated for two Cybersecurity Excellence Awards: Best Cybersecurity Education Provider and Cybersecurity Team of the Year.
- For the second consecutive year, the Wombat Blog has been recognized as one of the Top 100 InfoSecurity Blogs for Data Security Pros by Feedspot.
Product Innovation
Wombat also started off the year with an update to CyberStrength, a question-based knowledge assessment tool. The CyberStrength library now has 190 total questions across 12 different topic areas, including phishing, mobile device safety, and avoiding ransomware attacks. In addition to the updated library, CyberStrength questions are now available in 31 localized languages, and assessments are mobile-responsive as well as Section 508/WCAG compliant. As before, infosec teams also have the option to create custom questions tailored to their audience and threat landscape.
"As evidenced by the data points revealed in the release of our 2018 State of the Phish Report last week, organizations cannot underestimate the importance of employee awareness and training," said Joe Ferrara, President and CEO of Wombat. "In 2018, we will continue to innovate and execute on our vision to deliver the most effective and engaging cybersecurity education tools for enterprises around the globe. We are honored that industry leaders have once again recognized our leadership in this space and that our customers continue to regard us as a trusted and valued partner."
