CADILLAC, Mich., July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- While Michiganders enjoyed hot, sunny weather this past weekend, Wolverine Power Cooperative (Wolverine) and its members set new all-time peak demand records on back-to-back days.
"We take great care during periods of extreme temperatures to ensure our members have power when they need it most," said Eric Baker, president and chief executive officer at Wolverine Power Cooperative.
Wolverine serves 268,000 member-consumers throughout Michigan's lower peninsula. The weekend's extreme heat and Michigan's strong economy contributed to Wolverine and its members' previous peak energy usage to be exceeded on Saturday, June 30, and again on Sunday, July 1.
Wolverine and its members' new peak of 673 megawatts broke the previous record set during the hot summer of 2013.
