NEW YORK, Feb. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory U.S. today announced the launch of a three-part webinar series in collaboration with renowned law firm Morrison & Foerster to examine the most impactful areas of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. Participants will have the opportunity to earn free CLE credits by attending each live hour-long webinar.
The webinars will be led by Morrison & Foerster's Thomas A. Humphreys, Senior Counsel and co-chair of the Federal Tax Practice Group and the Tax Department, and Remmelt A. Reigersman, Partner and a member of the Tax Department. Wolters Kluwer's leading legal tax analyst, Linda O'Brien, will moderate the webinars and guide the discussion around each key subject area: pass-through entities, corporate taxation, and international taxation.
"As the most sweeping tax legislation in decades, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 will impact numerous areas of the law and virtually every taxpayer – and there is a lot that tax professionals will need to sort through as the legislation takes effect," said O'Brien. "In partnership with Morrison & Foerster's tax experts, this webinar series is geared toward providing tax professionals with prior law, current law and focus on new areas with which they will need to become familiar."
"Tax professionals are still trying to get their arms around the significant tax law changes in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act," said Thomas Humphreys of Morrison & Foerster. "We look forward to helping them understand how the pieces fit together in three key areas and how truly fundamental some of the changes will be."
The series kicks off on Wednesday, February 7 with "Tax Changes Affecting Holders of Pass-Through Vehicles". Topics will include the elimination of miscellaneous itemized deductions, the impact on investment management fees and investment fund structures, and a new 20-percent deduction for qualified business income.
