Wolters Kluwer Health Launches Lippincott's CoursePoint, the First Fully Integrated Digital Course Solution for Nursing Education
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, introduces Lippincott's CoursePoint, the first fully integrated digital course solution for nursing education. CoursePoint, powered by PrepU™, combines textbook content, digital and animated support resources, as well as interactive quizzes, assessments and remediation. Beyond just studying, students can test their knowledge using quizzes that continuously adapt based on earlier performance. Lippincott's CoursePoint is launching in connection with the 13th edition of Wolters Kluwer Health's best-selling Brunner & Suddarth's Textbook of Medical-Surgical Nursing. A complete set of products for the core nursing curriculum will soon follow.
"Lippincott's CoursePoint expands and elevates the adaptive learning tools that we have offered nursing educators since 2010," said Susan Driscoll, President of Wolters Kluwer Health, Professional & Education. "Students are not just reading the text, they are accessing integrated animations and videos, completing assessments and receiving immediate feedback including remediation through SmartSense links to trusted content that helps them address weaknesses and build content mastery. At the moment that a student is unclear on a concept they can get immediate help."
Lippincott's CoursePoint is powered by PrepU, an adaptive learning solution that has been part of Wolters Kluwer Health's nursing course support since 2010. In research that Wolters Kluwer Health conducted with the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards and Student Testing at UCLA, PrepU was proven to improve classroom performance and exam passing rates. UCLA evaluated PrepU results in undergraduate nursing courses involving nearly 1000 students, and found that students who use PrepU to support classroom and textbook learning frequently outperform both prior classes and current classmates who did not use the tool. Nursing schools that have tested PrepU have also noted improvements in test scores and classroom performance. Many PrepU questions are formatted to prepare students for the format and content of the NCLEX®, the standard nursing licensing exam.
"Even at the course level, students can start preparing for their licensing exam and ultimately for their future as a practicing nurse," said Driscoll. "With a suite of adaptive digital course and test prep solutions, we are providing a total assessment solution in nursing education, offering assessment and remediation from the first day of nursing school until the students complete the NCLEX-RN certification."
CoursePoint also offers instructors a measurable way to assess student understanding, beyond test results. Instructors can collaborate with students at any time, quickly identify common misunderstandings, evaluate student comprehension, and make changes to their instruction to better meet student needs. Instructors can also customize their course solution by adding a variety of other Lippincott products such as printed ancillary titles, Lippincott's DocuCare, an Electronic Health Record solution, or other digital offerings.
