PHILADELPHIA, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for healthcare and medical education, today announced a new, feature-rich online platform developed for the LWW Health Library, a portal to a diverse collection of Lippincott basic and clinical science content used by medical and pharmacy schools. The new platform provides a redesigned user interface, improved site navigation and search functionality, and other capabilities that optimize access to trusted Lippincott material.
The new site gives students and faculty a single point of access to the LWW Health Library along with a multitude of technology-rich features and functionality. Among several upgrades are the site's web-responsive design and its reorganization by subject, allowing for faster navigation to relevant content. Search functionality incorporates Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) vocabulary and enables search across the full library, by subject, by content type, or by individual title — with results appearing in an easy-to-read central display. In addition, multimedia content such as videos, question banks and animations is compatible with Apple devices, allowing students access from their iPhones and iPads.
"The technology enhancements to our new LWW Health Library platform give medical and pharmacy faculty and students the most advanced access ever to commonly required or recommended Lippincott resources," said Sirkka Howes, Digital Product Manager, Professional & Education, Wolters Kluwer Health. "It's easier to discover and to implement our content in the learning environment now that we've greatly improved the user experience."
The new site makes it easier to share information from the library with colleagues across the institution and for faculty to download images directly to Microsoft® PowerPoint. With a single click, an image can be exported and appear in a presentation replete with its citation. The site is now "COUNTER"-compliant so that institutions can easily track usage based on global standards.
Designed to supplement the student learning experience, the LWW Health Library hosts a variety of rich media, including more than 31 electronic textbooks for medical education, including osteopathic medicine titles, and 26 titles covering the pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum. The library also contains a variety of multimedia, including audio, video, and sought-after images for popular publications such as Clinically Oriented Anatomy, and Koda-Kimble and Young's Applied Therapeutics. Patient cases and self-assessment tools, as well as access to other Wolters Kluwer Health clinical and skills information, are also available.
A total of nine different collections are available via institutional subscription, allowing institutions to customize the library to meet their individual needs and budgetary considerations. The product includes collections dedicated to Anatomical Sciences, Basic Sciences and Osteopathic Medicine. Pharmacy collections include Pharmaceutical Sciences and Clinical Pharmacy.
The LWW Health Library is available for purchase immediately by contacting a Wolters Kluwer Health sales representative or by visiting lwwhealthlibrary.com and completing an online request form. The portal can be accessed from any device with a web connection. For more information about other Lippincott products, please visit LWW.com.
