PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, and the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD), the leading association focused on advancing the specialty practice of nursing professional development, announced today that they are creating and jointly providing a webinar series geared toward nursing professional development (NPD) specialists who administer continuing nursing education in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
"We are excited to partner with ANPD to jointly provide an education series on the leading topics that dominate healthcare professional development," said Todd McQueston, Executive Director of Marketing, Wolters Kluwer Health, Professional and Education. "By raising the expertise of these critical specialists, we empower them to help healthcare organizations ultimately improve patient outcomes."
Scheduled to kick off in early 2015, the new series of webinars will provide both thought leadership and insightful teaching strategies for NPD specialists who are responsible for increasing the competency of the clinical staff. The live webinars offer continuing nursing education (CNE) contact hours and are offered free of charge to all ANPD members. Recordings of the webinars will be included in Lippincott Professional Development, a leading online professional development solution from Wolters Kluwer.
"ANPD strives to be the thought leader and resource for nursing professional development. Our partnership with Wolters Kluwer is helping move us toward that vision," said Joan Warren, PhD, RN-BC, NEA-BC, President, Association for Nursing Professional Development. "By leveraging experts from the Lippincott Solutions team, ANPD can strengthen the products and services that we provide to our membership while working together to benefit the entire healthcare industry."
Historically, NPD specialists are those who are forgotten in receiving professional development for their specialty. "They are adept at procuring a variety of clinical education resources for the staff but are left with very little to help them increase their own acumen," continued Warren. "What we are creating together is a rare chance for these nurses to receive CNE for themselves."
Experts from ANPD and the Lippincott Solutions team at Wolters Kluwer are working together to select a set of relevant and timely topics designed to enhance knowledge and raise the bar on professional development education. Topics under consideration include outcomes measurement, evidence-based teaching strategies, preparing the nurse of the future, and using social media as an educational tool.
The schedule and topics for the live webinars will be announced in December via the ANPD website, the Lippincott Solutions website, and social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Each webinar will be included into the Lippincott Professional Development library for use by current institutional customers or via www.lww.com for individual clinicians wishing to purchase access. The webinars, according to McQueston, will strengthen Wolters Kluwer content marketing, where "the Lippincott Solutions team has been developing content and connecting healthcare professionals with key industry topics and the latest in evidence-based practice."
"The library has a unique mix of clinical and professional topics, but this will be the first time we've added topics designed specifically for the professional development specialist," said Jennifer Cline, the Digital Product Manager at Wolters Kluwer Health, Professional and Education. "This agreement allows us to enhance our courseware with an underdeveloped industry topic while introducing a new modality of learning into the product."
Lippincott Professional Development consists of evidence-based online courses organized into programs by key nursing specialties and topic areas such as critical care, disease management, infection control, obstetrics, pediatrics, patient safety and leadership. Designed to optimize nurses' clinical performance, most courses include CNE credit and are delivered in easy-to-learn, interactive formats. The product is the only professional development solution integrating "built-in" remediation support with direct links to evidence-based, point-of-care content from Lippincott Advisor and Lippincott Procedures.
Lippincott Professional Development is sold via group subscription to hospitals and others institutions. Individual courses are also available for sale directly to nurses and clinicians.
