Wolf Administration Announces C&S Wholesale Grocers to Create 500 New Jobs in Northampton County, Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Wolf announced today that C&S Wholesale Grocers, Inc. will create at least 500 new jobs with a new expansion project in Bethlehem, Northampton County.
"Today we are pleased to officially announce the creation of 500 new, full-time jobs through C&S's expansion project," said Governor Wolf. "The reuse of this shuttered facility is a huge win for the commonwealth and the Lehigh Valley region, and serves as a prime example of the importance of remaining engaged in securing new employers and opportunities to yield positive economic impacts for Pennsylvania."
C&S will expand East Coast operations and lease an existing facility several miles away from its current operation in Northampton County.
The company plans to invest at least $15 million on the project and has also committed to create at least 500 new, full-time jobs and retain its 1,980 existing employees statewide over the next three years.
The company received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development including $1,290,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits to be distributed upon creation of the new jobs.
The project was coordinated by the Governor's Action Team, an experienced group of economic development professionals who report directly to the Governor and work with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania, in collaboration with the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation.
