WMH Welcomes John Curran--Former US Prosecutor With Extensive Experience In White Collar Defense And Investigations--As Its Newest Partner
NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Walden Macht & Haran is pleased to announce that John F. Curran has joined the firm as partner, concentrating on White Collar Defense and Investigations, Cybersecurity compliance and liability, and AML compliance.
For the past 12 years, John served as a senior executive at a global risk management firm, leading its Intelligence and Investigations practice and responding to government investigations of Fortune 100 enterprises across a broad spectrum of subject matters, including allegations of financial crime, specifically FCPA violations, corruption, money laundering, and fraud, as well as working with victims of cybercrime. In the past, John also led the firm's computer forensics and electronic discovery practices, and the firm's work in a global multi-year AML bank monitorship. John's legal and technical experience is a perfect complement to WMH's existing robust practice focused on representing organizations and individuals subject to government investigations of financial and other white-collar crime.
Earlier in his career, John served as Counsel for National Security Affairs for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he counseled FBI senior leadership on terrorism, intelligence, and espionage investigations. John also spent more than twelve years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, where he distinguished himself in complex investigations and trials, and served as Chief of the Narcotics and Money Laundering Section, among other leadership positions. John clerked for the Honorable John E. Sprizzo, in the Southern District of New York, and practiced law at Skadden Arps and Reed Smith.
WMH Partner Jim Walden said: "John is a deeply thoughtful counselor, an experienced crisis manager, and a tenacious trial attorney. A natural leader with boardroom presence, John will help us better serve our existing clients, and no doubt attract new ones, particularly as corporate and individual clients look for more efficient, effective, expert, and agile firms to service high-stakes, multifaceted, and often technical matters."
WMH Partner Sean Haran said: "We are so happy to welcome John to the firm. He is an exceptional lawyer, and he brings with him a wealth of insight, keen instincts, and strong relationships, not to mention world-class expertise."
New WMH Partner John Curran said: "I am excited for the opportunity to return to the practice of law with my friends at Walden Macht & Haran, who possess the skills, experience, and integrity critical for effective client representation. I look forward to combining my diverse experience with the WMH team to provide unique representation to clients in their most critical matters, criminal or civil."
A boutique litigation firm, Walden Macht & Haran was founded by former Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the Eastern District of New York, Jim Walden, Timothy Macht, and Sean Haran, challenging the notion that only the largest firms can handle bet-the-company matters. The Firm specializes in government investigations, white-collar-criminal defense, and complex civil litigation. Based in lower Manhattan, Walden Macht & Haran LLP (www.wmhlaw.com) marshals the founders' extensive trial and high-stakes litigation experience, both as federal prosecutors and in private practice at major national and international law firms. Last year, another distinguished former federal prosecutor from the Southern District of New York, Jeffrey Udell, also became a partner of the firm.
