PARIS AIR SHOW, Paris, June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Wizz Air has been awarded with Pure-V™ designation for maintaining its fleet of more than 120 V2500® engines to OEM standards and incorporating only OEM-approved parts and repairs. The V2500 engine is offered through IAE International Aero Engines AG, a multinational aero engine consortium whose shareholders comprise Pratt & Whitney (NYSE: UTX), Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.
"We marked our 11th anniversary this year and are proud to be recognized for meeting the highest quality standards for our V2500 engines," said Wizz Air Chief Operations Officer Diederik Pen. "Ensuring that our engines are working at optimum performance is extremely important to us as it helps reduce our operating costs."
"We have worked with Wizz Air from the beginning to maintain their V2500 engines to Pure-V specifications and Wizz certainly reaps the benefits," said Matthew Bromberg, president, Pratt & Whitney Aftermarket. "Pure-V engines covered by a V-ServicesSM Fleet Hour Agreement can go almost 20 percent longer on-wing between shop visits and have fewer unscheduled removals, which adds significant value for customers."
Engines maintained to OEM standards retain the highest residual values – this can be 30 to 40 percent added value. Approximately 60 percent of the entire V2500 engine fleet qualifies as Pure-V.
The Pure-V engine program is designed to help operators enhance residual values for their V2500 engines. Customized conversion kits can be provided for engines that do not currently meet the Pure-V standard.
Established in 2003, Wizz Air is the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and offers more than 380 routes from 22 bases, connecting 112 destinations across 38 countries. On February 25, 2015, Wizz Air successfully completed its IPO on the London Stock Exchange and is listed under the ticker WIZZ. Learn more about Wizz Air at http://wizzair.com/.
