With the Help of Fabco Automotive, A Better Solution for International Truck's Utility Customers
Introducing the FSD-20A: Heavier Capacity, but with Optimal Ground Clearance and Cab Height
LIVONIA, Mich., June 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Today's utility companies are beefing up their trucks, adding boom length and lifting capacity to meet the shifting demands of a global industry that is also headed steeply upward. But trucks with larger capacities are heavier so they require more engineering underneath – a trend that's creating demand for an axle system that offers both capacity and design considerations for ground clearance and cab height.
Aftermarket solutions give fleet owners the axle capacity they need but introduce compliance and logistics challenges due to the size and configuration of the components used in the retrofit. A truck converted with a larger, center bowl axle can suffer from reduced ground clearance and a cab height that exceeds the limits set by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). The Fabco front driving axle reduces ride height compared to center bowl drive axles by greater than four inches.
As of June 2017, International Truck will offer their utility customers the Fabco FSD-20A right-hand offset axle as an option on both The International® WorkStar® 7400 and 7500 models. "As we focus on growing our market share in the vocational segment and catering to the needs of our customers, we're excited to offer this new axle in partnership with Fabco Automotive," said Mark Stasell, vice president, Vocational Truck Business, International Trucks.
The Fabco FSD-20A is designed for a variety of applications in the utility, telecommunication, and construction markets.
