"Vendors that sell Enterprise-class WLAN and Campus Ethernet switches are re-adjusting their product lines and pricing strategies to take advantage of two trends: the 802.11ac wireless upgrade cycle and convergence between switching and WLAN," said Chris DePuy, Vice President of Enterprise Edge research at Dell'Oro Group. "We see evidence that 802.11ac pricing is relatively closer to 802.11n than the 802.11n to 802.11a/g price premium that occurred during the last major upgrade cycle. In addition, several network equipment vendors have launched or plan to launch converged Ethernet switch products that incorporate wireless controller capabilities in an attempt to both simplify network operations and increase the likelihood of customer loyalty. We also see that the introduction of converged products and the new wireless upgrade has caused an acceleration in the Enterprise Edge market," DePuy explained.
The top ten vendors tracked in the Enterprise Edge Report include: Alcatel-Lucent, Aruba Networks, Avaya, Brocade, Cisco Systems, Enterasys, Hewlett-Packard, Huawei Technologies, Juniper Networks, and Ruckus Wireless.
