WIRED Announces A "Live Magazine" Celebrating Innovation And Design
This fall, WIRED by DESIGN will gather outstanding creative minds, including David Chang, Platon, Marissa Mayer, Yves Behar, and SIA
SAN FRANCISCO, June 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- WIRED today reveals an event that will bring together visionaries and innovators to celebrate the intersection of design and culture. WIRED by DESIGN (WxD), presented by Conde Nast, is a two-day retreat and live magazine, which will inspire, challenge, and entertain attendees. Taking place in late September, WxD will feature pioneers in fields ranging from architecture and filmmaking to art and fashion, along with a select group of invite-only guests who work at the cutting edge of their own endeavors.
"To us design is about more than graphics, products, or art. Any series of creative choices in pursuit of an ideal is design," says Scott Dadich, editor in chief of WIRED. "Whether you're creating a visual interface, cutting an album, or developing a tasting menu, design shapes the human experience. We recognized an opportunity to broaden the definition of design and learn from the people who are changing the way we communicate, socialize, and enjoy food, film, and music."
Coincident with WIRED's October Design Issue, WxD will kick off on September 29 in Marin County, California. In partnership with Lucasfilm Ltd., retreat activities will take place at Skywalker Sound in Marin and at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's Presidio National Park. Both private facilities were designed to foster creativity and offer attendees the rare opportunity to meet where today's top filmmakers create their blockbusters.
