Winter storm in the Northeastern U.S. - 75 Hydro-Québec crews en route towards the greater Boston area
MONTREAL, Jan. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - About 180 Hydro-Québec employees, including 150 line workers, as well as technical and logistics personnel are currently en route towards the greater Boston area.
National Grid is the utility that has asked Hydro-Québec to come and lend a hand to its teams due to the winter storm expected to hit the region as of Monday evening. A convoy of 75 trucks is on its way and Hydro-Québec teams will be deployed in the greater Boston area.
As a member of the North Atlantic Mutual Assistance Group, Hydro-Québec provides assistance to neighboring utilities during emergencies.
The most recent major emergency aid effort in the United States dates back to November 2014. Another winter storm had hit the eastern United States, causing an abundance of power outages as well as major damage. Hydro-Québec had sent some 50 crews near the city of Manchester, in New Hampshire, to assist with the recovery efforts.
