Winter Park Construction Completes Renaissance at SeaWorld® Amenity Area
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Winter Park Construction (WPC), one of nation's most respected general contractors, has recently completed a multi-million dollar expansion to the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld® amenity area.

Initial renovation by WPC (www.wpc.com) included the demolition of an outdated kiddie pool, tennis courts, a playground and volleyball court. These were replaced by upgrades to the 4-acre amenity site, which features a new "R Aqua Zone Water Playground." This water playground includes a play area with two twisting turning water slides, shooting water jets, a water windmill and many other activities. Toddlers also enjoy their own pint-sized wading pool with a slide that contains more than 20 mini-water jets.
To further enhance the area's popularity with guests, a brightly colored tensile (stretchable) shade structure provides a modern fresh look to compliment the Renaissance-branded resort. Water features, slides and a new restroom building blend architecturally with the existing facilities. WPC also assisted the hotel owner with the permitting process and assumed additional work and coordination responsibilities to ensure the entire project was completed within the allotted timeframe. Working with the owner and designers, WPC built and fulfilled this vision. The three-month long project created 100 new jobs for construction specialists.
Located directly across from SeaWorld® Orlando, the 10-story Renaissance at SeaWorld is owned by Sunstone Hotel Investors, Inc. of Aliso Viejo, California and managed by Marriott International. Guy Butler of Orlando was architect for the design and the Orlando office of EDSA served as landscape architect.
According to W. Guy Lindsey, Senior VP Design & Construction for Sunstone Hotel Investors, "We selected WPC due to their top reputation for constructing high-end quality amenity areas in the themed resort industry. WPC executed a technically difficult project in a short period of time and within tight budget constraints. What separates them from many other contractors is their professional approach to solving issues before they arise, along with their superb guidance and coordination with the entire project team."
