Winnov and Kaltura Team Up to Provide Open Video Capture and Management Solution
Winnov's deep integration with Kaltura's video platform provides customers with an automated workflow for creating and delivering immersive multi-source live and on-demand video experiences
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Winnov, a technology leader in rich media presentation and lecture capture, has partnered with Kaltura, the leading video technology provider. Supporting the Open Capture Standard, Winnov has integrated its family of Cbox lecture capture appliances with Kaltura's video platform to provide educational institutions a way to seamlessly capture, upload, and playback multi-source video experiences. The partnership offers institutions a flexible choice for lecture capture and customers will be able to deploy a combined Winnov and Kaltura solution to lower deployment costs and simplify the creation, management and distribution of rich media content across Kaltura's MediaSpace video portal and learning management system (LMS) partners.
"We are excited to see more and more Lecture Capture providers like Winnov adopt the Open Capture Standard," said Jeff Rubenstein, VP Product Marketing and Business Development, Education + Enterprise, at Kaltura. "Kaltura's goal with the Open Capture Standard is to promote an open ecosystem for video capture, enabling customers to use the hardware they want and the ability to manage all of their video in a single stack. Partnering with companies like Winnov that support this vision will help bring the Open Capture Standard to fruition."
Winnov's Cbox capture and streaming appliances support many connectivity options, allowing integration with a wide range of audiovisual equipment and presentation devices and capturing every critical detail of a presentation, lecture, or live event. Through a host of integrated technologies, including multiple encoders and automated metadata creation, Cbox captures up to 5 HD sources simultaneously and automatically generates hi-res images, chapters, thumbnails, searchable text in real-time, and synchronizes it with uploaded video recordings.
Multi-source video experiences and recording metadata can be automatically or manually uploaded to the Kaltura Management Console (KMC) and further mapped into various MediaSpace channels and learning management systems (LMS). Additionally, automated assignment of administrative owners and content creators of Cbox generated and uploaded content ensures easy content accessibility for administrators, faculty and content owners.
Winnov's Cbox integrates with Kaltura's interactive video player which supports multi-view switching, allowing viewers to choose from different video layouts and swap between multiple video streams generated from Cbox. Recording metadata is created and synchronized automatically by Kaltura and Cbox, enabling viewers to easily search for text and keywords and jump to any specific segment of the video recording where the word was found and also navigate to key parts of the recording by selecting a chapter or thumbnail.
"From capture to delivery, our tight integration with Kaltura's platform offers customers a suite of capture technologies, a seamless and automated workflow, and provides viewers with enriched, multi-source video experiences," said Olivier Garbe, CEO of Winnov.
The addition of Kaltura's screen capture software and mobile device capture extends the end-to-end solution to accommodate any use case, from traditional appliance-based capture to flipped classroom models. Winnov and Kaltura's solutions combine to offer organizations a cost-effective way to easily capture, publish, search and share rich media content – making deployments and life simple for AV and IT staff.
