COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- White Castle, America's first fast food restaurant, is proud to announce the winners of the Crave Time Cook Off contest. The contest encouraged Cravers to channel their creativity and use Original Sliders or Cheese Sliders to create and submit their own unique recipes. After judges considered each recipe's taste, originality and presentation, winners of the Crave Time Cook Off contest have been chosen.
Grand Prize winner, Brenda Watts of Gaffney, South Carolina, utilized Cheese Sliders to create the delectable Brazilian Bruschetta with Brazilian Tomato Pesto and Avocado Aioli. Included in the Grand Prize was round-trip airfare, and accommodations for two, to White Castle Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, where she was given a behind-the-scenes tour of White Castle's iconic Home Office, a meeting with the Product Development team, a cooking session in the White Castle test kitchen and lunch with White Castle CEO Lisa Ingram at a local White Castle restaurant.
"I grew up eating White Castle in Michigan, but since moving to South Carolina I haven't been able to eat at a White Castle restaurant in many years," said Brenda Watts. "Needless to say, I was ecstatic to be back at White Castle! We were treated like royalty for the entire trip, and to be able to visit the restaurant responsible for so many childhood memories of mine has meant the world to me. I am still pinching myself!"
Runner-up, Mary Shivers of Ada, Oklahoma, utilized White Castle Cheese Sliders found in the freezer aisle at her local grocery store to create her take on a breakfast favorite, the Monte Cristo. Mary's Craveable White Castle Monte Cristo includes Dijon mustard, ham, turkey, Swiss cheese, a side of red raspberry preserves and then is grilled in a waffle maker to finish the sandwich in a unique and delicious way.
Second runner-up, Samuel Agnoli of New York, New York, utilized flavors inspired by his hometown of Miami, Florida, by using the Jalapeño Cheese Slider to create the Havana Jalapeño White Castle Craver. Samuel's recipe is a true Bold Move™ that features a variety flavors, including pickled red onions, avocado, bacon, lime and black bean aioli. Samuel's spicy take on the slider is sure to satisfy your Crave.
"As a family owned business, White Castle embraces creativity and being bold, and each one of these winners have shown how truly unique the White Castle slider can be," said Jamie Richardson, Vice President of White Castle. "We are proud to have such loyal and engaged customers and we are always looking for inspiration for new additions to our products."
