Winner Of World's Richest Journalism Award To Be Introduced At The National Press Club June 6th
$75,000 Grantham Prize recognizes excellence in environmental reporting
NARRAGANSETT, R.I., May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The winners of the 2012 Grantham Prize for Excellence in Reporting on the Environment will be announced on June 5th as part of the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation's Leadership Awards Dinner during Capitol Hill Ocean Week. Metcalf Institute for Marine & Environmental Reporting, a leading provider of science training programs for journalists and the administrator of The Grantham Prize, will introduce the 2012 award winners to the public on Wednesday June 6th, at 9:30am in the Murrow Room of the National Press Club.
The Grantham Prize, administered by Metcalf Institute at the University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography, honors a journalist or team of journalists for outstanding reporting on environmental issues with an award of $75,000. The Grantham Prize winner was selected by five highly respected jurors from a competitive pool of entries for works of non-fiction published, broadcast or posted online in the United States or Canada in 2011.
The Grantham Prize winners will present their work at the news conference. Recipients of the Grantham Prize Awards of Special Merit, who will each receive $5000, will also present their work. Refreshments will be served.
