Wineman Technology Improves Test Automation with INERTIA™ 2013 for NI VeriStand
Real-Time Test Control Software Offers Flexible, Scalable Platform for Fuel Cell Test Simulations and More
SAGINAW, Mich., Oct. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wineman Technology, Inc., a leading systems integrator for test applications, today announced INERTIA™ 2013, a new version of the powerful test automation software for quickly and efficiently implementing real-time control for test applications. As an add-on for NI VeriStand, INERTIA 2013 gives engineers precise, intuitive control of their test systems by streamlining the creation of test procedures.
With INERTIA 2013, engineers can save commonly used tasks as sub-procedures that can be called up with a simple drag-and-drop. Users also can completely customize their test steps to achieve the most specific test functionalities possible for dynamometer, servo-hydraulic, and other test cell applications. In addition, INERTIA now offers the ability to run an unlimited number of processes in parallel for more extensive control, as well as revision tracking for easier documentation and troubleshooting.
"With the INERTIA 2013 release, we focused on improving the test sequence builder to make it simpler for customers using NI VeriStand to create tests, both for basic tasks and highly complex, multi-layered procedures," said Roy Krans, Wineman Technology Product Manager. "To take their test applications to the next level, we believe engineers need exceptional control software that is extremely easy-to-use yet powerful and flexible. With INERTIA 2013 and NI VeriStand, engineers now can tackle the most cutting-edge, challenging applications."
Building on a Powerful Platform
The INERTIA platform is designed to help engineers rapidly configure and deploy real-time control and test systems, including those for engines and motors; actuators, valves and pumps; turbines and gear boxes; auxiliary power units (APUs); tire test systems; life cycle durability, and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). A software add-on for the NI VeriStand real-time software environment, INERTIA provides a seamless, integrated control solution for dynamometer, servo-hydraulic, and other test cell applications.
Since 2003,INERTIA has been featured in a wide range of test applications – from large-scale earthquake structural test to spacecraft flight control simulation to model-based transmission testing. Recently, Wineman Technology used INERTIA software to create a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test stand for simulating and controlling passenger vehicle fuel cells developed by Ford Motor Company. INERTIA gave Ford a flexible solution with multi-mode PID control, real-time data logging, the ability to run vehicle models – and most importantly, scalability for adapting to new prototypes.
