Acclaimed wine writer Michael Steinberger, together with Constance Hunter, Chief Economist of Aladdin Capital Holdings, will engage in a lively presentation and discussion of the history of wine and the real potential of investment in fine and rare wine.
For centuries, Old-World vintages from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, Tuscany were the favored beverage of the rich and celebrated and have been coveted for their rareness and prestige. However, it is only within the past few decades, that wines are appreciated for their value and return-on-investment.
Among the topics discussed at "Wine is Gold?" will be wine as a diminishing commodity – a luxury product limited in supply. Mark Bedini, chief executive and founder of wine brokerage Fine + Rare Wines, Ltd. said, "The plus side of wine investment is that as time goes by it gets scarcer as people drink it. The likelihood is that over time – as the wines get older, rarer and in greater demand – prices will inexorably increase."
Speakers for the event include:
Michael Steinberger, author of Au Revoir to All That, and wine columnist for SLATE.COM, Mssr. Steinberger is considered amongst the best wine writers in America and has also been published in such national and international publications as The New York Times, Saveur, Food & Wine, the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal. Mssr. Steinberger is known for his accessible, entertaining style, and his sometimes irreverent attitude toward wine, is adept considering the role of wine in our culture, society and our world.
Constance Hunter, Managing Director and Chief Economist for Aladdin Capital Holdings, is known for her cogent analysis of complex global financial situations, and provides insights valued by investors around the world.
