WinCo Foods Announces the Opening of a Second Bakersfield, California Store

BOISE, Idaho, March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- WinCo Foods, LLC announced today that it will open its newest discount supermarket at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27th.  The store is the company's second in Bakersfield and occupies approximately 88,000 square feet and reflects WinCo's newer décor package creating a solid, clean feel which highlights the product, including the hundreds of new WinCo Foods private label items the company has recently introduced.  The Bakersfield store is located at 6801 Panama Lane and will initially employ approximately 168 individuals, 129 of whom are new hires from the community. 

WinCo Foods is an employee owned discount grocery company that strives to be supermarket low price leader in each market it serves.  Store Manager, James Alexander, transfers to the store from Roseville, California and has been with the company for 12 years.  His assistant managers are Michael Pippin and Michael Thompson.  The management team and crew are enthusiastic about opening a new WinCo Foods store in Bakersfield.  Mr. Alexander indicated that excitement for the new store is building among potential customers and that Bakersfield has been a very welcoming and successful market for the company.  He is excited about working with the other employee owners to continue to provide great value and a great customer experience for all of our Bakersfield friends – old and new. 

The store features WinCo's traditional "Wall of Values" at the entry, which has particularly good pricing on a wide variety of popular items.  The main sales floor of the store features a large fresh produce department, bulk foods, meat, deli, seafood, and bakery service departments.  The unique bulk foods department displays over 900 items, including many natural food products, some organics, snacks, candies, cereals, flours, pastas, spices and more.  The store also has a more efficient floor plan which makes shopping WinCo easier than ever. We are excited for customers to come in to check out the new store and to continue to benefit from the everyday low pricing and quality that WinCo Foods is known for.
