Wimba and Elluminate Named as Top Collaboration Solutions in IMS LearnSat Survey
Wimba Takes First Place, Elluminate Third in User Satisfaction Survey
WASHINGTON, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Wimba and Elluminate, two leading solutions for collaboration, were named as top solutions in the IMS LearnSat survey, Blackboard Inc. (Nasdaq: BBBB) today announced, ranking first and third, respectively, in the Live Presentation or Collaboration category of the IMS Global Learning Consortium's 2009/2010 Learning Technology Satisfaction and Trends (LearnSat) Survey.
The survey is conducted by IMS GLC to assess end user satisfaction in more than 20 categories of learning technology products and services, and to follow key trends in the overall use of technology in education. Previously, Elluminate earned Best in Category honors in the Live category of the first LearnSat survey, conducted by IMS GLC in 2007.
"Earning top honors in the LearnSat survey is particularly meaningful because it represents the endorsement of so many institutions and users that have successfully used our solutions to support and enhance the work they do," said Maurice Heiblum, President of Blackboard Collaborate. "We're honored that they've counted our solutions among the very best in education technology."
Today, Wimba and Elluminate are both part of Blackboard Collaborate, which includes the leading education focused Web, video and audio conferencing solutions used by thousands of higher education, K-12, professional, corporate, and government organizations worldwide to support more engaging and interactive classes, meetings and other interactions. Both solutions are often used independently, or integrated with Blackboard's learning management platforms or with other open source and commercial course management systems.
At Blackboard, the solutions will continue to be developed with an emphasis on open standards for greater interoperability among learning technologies, and on accessibility for all types of users. In addition, Blackboard Collaborate will continue to drive and evangelize standards that allow institutions a wide range of choice and flexibility when selecting the technologies that support their learning environments.
"Congratulations to Wimba and Elluminate on doing so well in the IMS LearnSat survey," said Rob Abel, Chief Executive of IMS Global. "It is great to see that Blackboard is committed to supporting integrations for Wimba and Elluminate with IMS open standards going forward."
