In addition to the residential portion of Metropolitan, which includes 179 studios, one, two and three-bedroom units, the $35 million development will feature resort-style amenities as well as an arts park and a dog park.
"Not only does this project represent $530,000 in impact fees for public safety, parks, recreation, the sewer system and other services, but it will help transform the area between Dixie Highway and Northeast 15 Avenue," said Mayor Gary Resnick.
Located near Five Points, Metropolitan will be within walking distance to many of the city's shops, restaurants, bars, salons and other businesses – including those located on Wilton Drive, Northeast 26 Street and Dixie Highway. Metropolitan is expected to bring hundreds of potential new customers to those businesses.
"With property values up 10 percent, the highest in the county, this is just more evidence that Wilton Manors is South Florida's premier destination for residents, businesses and developers," said Mayor Resnick.
Metropolitan, located at 1224 NE 24 Street, Wilton Manos, is the culmination of more than two years of constructive interaction between city officials and the private sector developer to reach an agreement on development plans for the cutting-edge community.
